I thought this was an interesting article. Our intention at EyeSpyTech is to bring the most up to date news about all kinds of surveillance. Whether it be Nanny Cams to large scale video surveillance security systems.
Whether you are in favor of Video Surveillance Cameras or not, we believe that they can be a very effective deterrent of crimes and abuse. Take for example this article published by the Staten Island Advance.
Staten Island Railway security cameras help capture alleged robber
by Staten Island Advance Tuesday January 15, 2008, 1:50 PM
The security camera installed at a Staten Island Railway station helped MTA cops track down and arrest a suspect accused of robbing a 72-year-old woman waiting for a train, officials announced today.
The incident happened on Jan. 7 on the eastbound platform of the Old Town station.
The suspect was caught two days later at the Clifton Railway station, based on the description from the surveillance video.
Councilman James Oddo and Assistant Deputy Chief Thomas Odessa of the MTA Police described the details of the arrest during a press conference today, and Oddo announced the allocation of $1 million for expansion of the camera system to other stations on the line.
"It was a great combination of good old-fashioned police work and new technology," said Oddo.
"They went to the videotape," said Oddo of police, mimicking the signature line of veteran sports broadcaster Warner Wolf.
Oddo also pledged to continue pushing the city Parks Department to install security cameras in selected parks.
